🐾 A Journey of Love and Luck: Visit to Imado Shrine 🐾
Day Two of Our Trip: Imado Shrine
For the second day of our journey, we decided to visit the Imado Shrine, known for its love and prosperity legends. Located in Asakusa, this shrine is famous not only for its adorable maneki-neko (beckoning cats) but also as a filming location for the drama “Love Lasts Forever.” My excitement for this pilgrimage was beyond words! 🌸
Starting from Asakusa Station, it takes about 20 minutes to walk along the riverside to reach the shrine. The beautiful scenery along the way makes for a perfect stroll. We also had a fun rickshaw ride, where the handsome rickshaw driver not only enthusiastically introduced us to the sights but also helped us capture these joyful moments. 🚲
Upon entering the shrine, the first thing that caught our eyes was a pair of giant maneki-neko statues. The male cat god featured adorable spots, while the female was pure white. Both cats had their right paws raised, symbolizing wealth and happiness. According to legend, cats with the right paw raised bring wealth and happiness, while those with the left paw invite good fortune and guests. The shrine was adorned with cat decorations throughout, enhancing its charm and imbuing the atmosphere with a rich cat culture. 🐱
A special feature within the shrine is the “Stone-Petting Cat,” a small stone statue. It’s said that touching its head and setting a photo of it as your phone’s wallpaper can make your wishes come true. This ritual holds a special significance for locals and attracts many visitors hoping for good luck. The adorable appearance of the Stone-Petting Cat makes it irresistible not to take several photos, creating precious memories of our trip. 📸
Besides the prosperity cats, Imado Shrine is also renowned for its rich culture of love. The shrine offers two types of ema (votive tablets): regular and those dressed in kimonos. Singles can write their wishes for finding a good partner on the regular ema, while those who have found their significant other can write their wishes on the kimono-dressed prosperity cat ema to give thanks. These ema are uniquely attractive and draw many couples who come to pray for happiness. 💕
The shrine’s amulets are incredibly cute, available in various styles. We particularly liked the matchmaking amulets and the triple prosperity cats. These small souvenirs are not only meaningful but also the best mementos of our trip. Unfortunately, we forgot to draw a mini prosperity cat fortune that day, giving us a reason to come back! 🎋
Our visit to Imado Shrine deeply impressed us with its charm. From the various cat decorations inside the shrine to the friendly shrine staff, everything made us feel warm and happy. Especially the sleeping white cat added a lot of fun to our itinerary. It was Friday, and with few people around, we could leisurely appreciate every corner—a truly wonderful experience. We hope that on our next visit, we can draw the mini prosperity cat fortune to bring even more good luck and happiness into our lives! 🍀
We highly recommend Imado Shrine to all who love cats and Japanese culture. This place is not only filled with love and blessings but also a perfect spot to experience the unique charm of Japan. 💕🗾
